Appalachia is home.
Our Mission.
We sustain and amplify a collaborative research network that translates science into action to advance long-term resilience to inland flooding and other extreme weather hazards across Appalachia.

Core Objectives

Sustain a robust, interdisciplinary network that connects geoscience, public health, policy, and community-engaged expertise by building on regional strengths to enhance resilience to inland flooding and other extreme weather across rural Appalachia.

Generate new interdisciplinary research integrating geoscience, climate modeling, and public health to evaluate the current and future impacts of inland flooding and other extreme weather events on infrastructure, water quality, and community health in Appalachian regions.

Strengthen long-term, cross-sector partnerships among geoscientists, public health leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders to advance mitigation, preparedness, and climate adaptation by leveraging local assets to promote health and economic prosperity in rural Appalachian mountain communities.

Who we are.
Our network is built on interdisciplinary partnerships that translate place-based science into practical, community-informed solutions for more resilient Appalachian communities.
